About YAKISUGI

In 1973, Kyoei Lumber was the first to start industrial production of YAKISUGI in Japan, by developing a YAKISUGI production machines and facility. Those YAKISUGI production machines were later introduced mainly in Western part of Japan, and YAKISUGI quickly became one of the popular wood siding materials in Japan.

Our YAKISUGI is made in Japan and 100% Sugi (Cedar) from forests in Japan.
Kyoei Lumber proudly believe that the industrial production of YAKISUGI contributes to restore and enhance this beautiful tradition of Sugi products.

Beauty

Simply burned cedar YAKISUGI has a primitive beauty. Charred black is natural, unique, and even universal.
Natural black is now recognized as a “cool beautify” among international architect societies.
